What is Intensive Neurological Physiotherapy?
Evidence continues to support the need for intensive neurological rehabilitation with an increase in repetition of movement and activity to make faster and more effective changes following a neurological injury.
For, example, the Stroke NICE guidelines (2023) recommend 3 hours of therapy per day for someone who has suffered a stroke.
The aim from working more intensively is to help to make neuroplastic changes in your brain much faster than conventional therapy.
Our intensive rehabilitation packages apply to anyone with a neurological condition or injury such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease, Brain Injury or Stroke.
We are now able to offer intensive treatment packages, suited to the individual’s needs.

How Does Intensive Neurotherapy Treatment Work?

On your first day, you will meet your treating physiotherapist again along with any other clinicians that may be involved with your treatment package. You will be given a booklet which will include your assessment plan, goals and exercises that you are going to start completing with your therapy team. There may also be home exercises that we want you to complete too.
At your mid-way point we will review your outcome measurements in order to ensure that we are making progress and that we are continuing to work towards your aims. We will discuss whether we need to add any additional aims/goals or adapt any current goals if needed.
On your last day of the treatment package, your treating physiotherapist will review your outcome measurements and goals. A discussion over how things have progressed will take place and then we will have a discussion with you on whether you want to create any further goals and continue with some physiotherapy treatment (if necessary) or what alternative services may be available either within the team or externally (gym, community/outdoor activities)
