Hereditary ataxia
Ataxia is a term for a group of disorders that effect coordination, balance and speech. Symptoms and severity can vary depending on the type of ataxia. Different types of ataxia include Acquired (symptoms develop as a result of damage to the brain or nervous system), Idiopathic (late-onset where the brain is progressively damaged over time) or Hereditary.
Hereditary ataxia is caused by faulty genes that a person inherits from their parents. Symptoms slowly develop over years and most common types of hereditary ataxia include Friedreich’s ataxia and spinocerebellar ataxia.

- Mobility problems
